Being Alive

I find myself trapped in this place. It's somewhere that disrupts me from for-filling my life and the hopes and dreams that go along with it. I'm a girl on the search to find that something which will allow me to break from this and fear no failure.

…Formality…

I really can not get over how incredible the past few days have been. April 20th 2013 marked the day of my grade 12 formal. The phrase “Oh what a night” can only begin to describe the entire experience. It all started with a restful morning spending some time at home with my mum kicking it around the house making sure everything was prepared and ready for the day. I rocked out in my bathroom to daggy girl power songs ‘twas the ultimate morning. This soon was followed by the arrival of my best friend who accompanied me to all of my appointments for the day. He’s pretty amazing and got me the most thoughtful birthday present, it was simply stunning.

We then ventured to my make up appointment at MAC. By this stage everything was getting pretty exciting and the butterflies in my stomach were appearing. The artist doing my makeup was great, she was really lovely and did exactly like what I wanted. Perfect makeup! We then left Pacific fair venturing through horrific traffic, and finally made it to my hair appointment.

My hairdresser Kellie is an absolute hoot. Always love going to her and having a good laugh. Tim and Kellie got along so well and I’m glad I had two humerous beings with me to keep the nerves down. I scoffed down some sushi for lunch in the meantime and had a great time just chatting with some fab people. As I had the final touches done to my hair we were all starting to see the final product. I absolutely loved my hair. Even more than when I had my trial done!

As we were running slightly late we quickly jumped in the car and started making our way home in order for me to get my dress on and accessorise! Everyone was already at my house when we arrived so I quickly ran upstairs and began to get ready. I put on my dress, shoes and jewellery and I was ready to make the journey down stairs. I felt as though I was in an American prom movie. Once downstairs I had some photos by myself and with my family and friends. Funny times playing around with my dress doing some pretty classic “model shots”. Time was running out very quickly and I had to go to Pres at Roberts house. Everyone left the house fairly quickly and we all went on our respective ways.

Arriving at Pres was lovely finding a red carpet upon entrance. I went upstairs and helped Frances tie her dress. Naomi and Sarushka also appeared and we took some pretty fancy “lounge shoot” photos upstairs. We then went down stairs to find the majority of everyone there. We then spent the next hour or so drinking champagne, taking photos and talking to everyone. Everyone looked stunning (boys included). Time continued to pass very quickly and sooner than expected was it time to leave for arrivals.

Before making it to the Arts Centre we made two stops, the first was to Tims house to grab a quick photo with Tim and show Julie the dress. Secondly we went to Domain to see Louis’ Grandma. All of the Oldies were very cute giving compliments and taking photos.

But yet again it was time, to make the final stint of the journey to the Arts Centre. Surprisingly the car ride was just as nerve racking as it was the first time. Butterflies, shaking hands, the works. But wow, just wow. We approached the front of the line and it was our time. We successfully made it out of the car with no mishaps and made it through the red carpet with absolute ease. Even with the stair challenge and flashing cameras at all angles.

The following couple of hours were quite incredible. Everyone there was looking like a millions dollars, even the room was fabulous! The night showcased Alex and Frances’ hosting skills, some teacher’s “other” side and some pretty groovy dancing from the whole cohort. We had many photos taken and spent a night to remember together.

As the evening came to a close we all parted the building fairly quickly to make our individual venture to the F.A.P. I went with Abby and some others, t’was quite the hysterical drive to the venue. It was certainly the most eventful close to a great formal, I don’t think much elaboration needs to go into what did happen at that AP… But none the less, “party hard” and ”no regrets” were certainly among the thoughts of most.

All in all I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect night. you know what… I’ll say it again, “Oh what a night!”.
